Black Forest Cake – A Chocolate & Cherry Delight!

Instructions:
1. Prepare the Crust:
Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and grease a 9-inch springform pan. In a bowl, mix the Oreo crumbs with melted butter until everything is evenly coated. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust. Bake for 10 minutes, then set the crust aside to cool completely while you prepare the cheesecake filling.
2. Make the Cheesecake Batter:
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until it’s smooth and creamy. Add the granulated sugar, sour cream, and vanilla extract, mixing well to combine. Beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. This will ensure a smooth and creamy batter.
3. Add the Chocolate Flavor:
Sift in the cocoa powder to give the cheesecake its rich chocolate flavor. Stir in the red food coloring to achieve a beautiful, vibrant red hue, adding a special touch to the classic cheesecake. Gently fold in the crushed Oreos to add a delightful crunch and texture to the filling.
4. Bake the Cheesecake:
Pour the cheesecake batter over the cooled Oreo crust, smoothing it evenly with a spatula. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until the edges of the cheesecake are set and the center is slightly jiggly. When you shake the pan, it should still have a slight wobble in the middle – that’s when you know it’s ready. Turn off the oven and let the cheesecake cool with the oven door slightly ajar for an hour. This helps prevent cracking.
5. Chill for Perfection:
Once cooled, refrigerate the cheesecake for at least 4 hours, but preferably overnight. Chilling the cake allows it to set completely and enhances its rich, creamy texture.
6. Prepare the Ganache Drip:
In a microwave-safe bowl, heat the semi-sweet chocolate chips and heavy cream in 30-second intervals, stirring after each to ensure the mixture is smooth and glossy. Once melted, let the ganache cool slightly to room temperature before using.
7. Add the Finishing Touches:
Carefully drizzle the chocolate ganache around the edges of the cheesecake, allowing it to cascade down the sides for a beautiful drip effect. For the finishing touches, decorate the top with swirls of whipped cream, mini Oreos, red velvet cake crumbs, and sprinkles. This will give your cake a fun, festive look that’s sure to impress your guests.
8. Serve and Enjoy:
Slice into 12 decadent servings and enjoy the perfect combination of smooth cheesecake, crunchy Oreo crust, and rich chocolate ganache. Each bite will melt in your mouth and leave you craving more. Whether you’re serving it at a party, holiday gathering, or just for a special treat, this Black Forest Cake will be the star of the show.
