Ingredients:
• 1 ¼ cups milk
• ¼ cup water
• ¼ cup (57g) butter, softened or melted
• 2 tbsp (27g) granulated sugar
• 1 tbsp instant or active dry yeast
• 1 large egg
• 1 ¼ tsp salt
• 4 ¼ to 4 ½ cups (604-639g) all-purpose flour
• Additional butter, for brushing
Instructions:
1 Prepare the Liquid Mixture
In a small saucepan, combine the milk and water. Heat over medium heat until the mixture is warm but not hot, about 100°F (37°C)—just warm enough to activate the yeast. Add the butter and sugar to the warm milk mixture, stirring until the butter is melted and the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and allow it to cool for a few minutes.
